Sumatra Mandheling Coffee

Sumatra Mandheling comes from the beautiful island of Indonesia, which is located in the Indian Sea. Located in the Balak region of Indonesia, which produces 65 % of the coffee, this region is surrounded by two lakes-Lake Tlba and Lake Takennon in the northern end of Sumatra. Mandelhing describes an Indian name used for coffees from this region. Grown at an altitude of 2,500', the soil is volcanic and the coffee is harvested between the months of September and April. This is a semi-washed coffee which is dried on patios or in drums fueled by wood and parchment. The beans are a beautiful, uniform jade green in color. Exported between the months of October and June, this coffee is most noted for its full body, low acidity and a nice aroma.
